The South Summit is a global innovation event that was born more than 10 years ago in Spain and had its first edition in Brazil, at Cais Mauá, in Porto Alegre-RS, in May 2022. More than just an event, it is a platform for connections among the various actors of the ecosystem, aiming to generate and catalyze business opportunities.
Driven by a movement that united the public sector, entrepreneurs, and universities, the South Summit landed in Porto Alegre through an initiative of the Government of the State of Rio Grande do Sul in partnership with 4all – Technology Hub.
This year marked their third edition, gathering over 23,000 people from over 55 countries including 3,000 startups and 140 funds combining a US$213 billion AUM.
On Wednesday morning, Bruno Batavia from the Valor team climbed to the stage and hosted a panel on Web3 called “Investing in Blockchain: Upcoming Trends and Applications”. He was joined onstage by Dan Yamamura (Fuse Capital), Renato Valente (Iporanga) and Derek Bittar (Indicator Capital).
In the following morning, it was time for Carol Lacombe, Princiapl at Valor, to discuss the current Venture Capital landscape and how funds are going about their strategy and adapting to the market adjustments. Joining Carol were Gustavo Ribas (K Fund), Ricardo Kanitz (Spectra) and Marcelo Mitre (Provence Partners).
