Valor supports Mayor of San Francisco and his delegation in their first official visit to Brazil.

Valor supported Edwin Lee, Mayor of San Francisco and his delegation in their first official visit to Brazil during the week of March 14th, 2016. The objective of the visit was to establish relationships with local business and political leaders and develop new business opportunities of mutual benefit to Brazil and San Francisco. In São Paulo Valor Capital facilitated meetings with the former head of the Brazilian central bank, Henrique Meirelles and with the president and directors of Fiesp, the federation of industry of São Paulo.

On the last evening of the Mayor’s visit, Valor hosted a cocktail reception for the Mayor at the Fasano Hotel in Rio. This reception was an opportunity for the delegation to meet with select entrepreneurs, public officials, and business leaders from the Rio de Janeiro business and technology community. Guest’s included the US Consul General in Rio, representatives from Brazil’s National Development Bank (BNDES), the Chief Digital officer for the City of Rio and the founder’s of several Rio-based Valor portfolio companies including Descomplica, Passei Direto, and Nibo as well as the country managers for Udacity and Viagogo. Everson Lopes and Paula Guedes, both Valor Venture Partners, spoke about our investment in the HiveBR and the local Rio ecosystem respectively.
